    Caryn was born in Sydney and qualified as an Acupuncturist in the UK over 18 years ago.  She has since completed extensive post-graduate training.  Her first 8 years of practice were in London, including working at British Airways.  She has been featured on television, radio and in newspapers and magazines including the Sunday Express, London Metro, Now, Red and Zest Magazines.  Caryn returned home in 2005 to establish her practice in Sydney.

    We’re one of the few practices in Sydney to have a qualified dental hygienist on our staff. Christine, originally from Canada, has an undergraduate degree in Archaeology from the University of Calgary and she was later accepted into the dental hygiene degree program at the University of Alberta. Christine has a passion for her work and is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of tooth and gum disease.

    Dr. Catherine-Anne Walsh

    Catherine-Anne qualified as a dentist in New Zealand with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago University and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Sydney. She’s an approachable fun person, a very skilled dentist and has a broad range of experiences across both the public and private sector. Dr. Walsh enjoyed her time at Westmead Hospital in the Oral Health Centre in the special needs, paediatric, and geriatric clinic as well as working in the emergency department. She is involved with the Australian Dental Association and sits on one of the committees.

    Sherisse Cohen

    Sherisse  trained at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) and The University of South Africa (UNISA) in South Africa. She also completed an internship at The Sydney Clinic, a private psychiatric hospital.

    She’s a member of the Australian Psychological Society and is registered with the NSW Psychologists’ Registration Board. Sherisse has been in private practice since 2005 and works with adults and adolescents (14+) experiencing the following issues:

    • Eating disorders (including compulsive overeating)

    Clinical Psychologist: Tal Schlosser

    Tal enjoys seeing adults and couples  her qualifications include seven years of university training: a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours in Psychology from Macquarie University, and a Masters of Clinical Psychology Degree, with 1st Class Honours, from the University of New South Wales.

    Tal has worked in the public and private health systems has provided her with experience in the assessment and treatment of adults experiencing a wide range of issues including mood and anxiety disorders, antenatal and postnatal adjustment difficulties, emotion regulation problems and relationship difficulties.

    She adopts an integrative approach to treatment drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches in which she has undertaken advanced training, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness based interventions and Emotion Focussed Therapy.

     Clinical Psychologist: Dr Freya Smith

    Freya offers an empathic and motivational approach in collaborating with clients to improve their wellbeing. She has experience providing psychological assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents and adults. . As a psychologist in a community outpatient mental health service Freya worked with individuals experiencing difficulties such as depression, anxiety, worry, stress, phobias, panic, grief, bipolar disorder and the psychological effects of trauma. Freya has also delivered psychoeducational group programs to adolescents and adults.

    Freya has research experience and ongoing interest in emotion regulation and psychological wellbeing related to physical health conditions. She has specific training in applied psychological assessment and treatment across the lifespan, in cognitive behavioural therapy and family and systems approaches.

    In addition to her work at myLife, Freya currently works at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and the paediatric ward at Royal North Shore Hospital.

    What if I have a medical emergency?

    If you have an emergency situation after hours, please feel free to call our out-of-hours number: 8724 6300.

    Please note: Although we handle medical emergencies at the practice, if it’s a major incident, please call 000.

    How do I book an appointment?

    Just call our friendly reception team on (02) 9233 3399 and we’ll be happy to help you. You can also contact us here or book an appointment online.

    Do you offer early morning or evening appointments?

    Yes, we offer appointments from 8am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. These appointments must be arranged with our reception team 02 9233 3399.

    Do you accept walk-in patients?

    Yes. If you arrive without an appointment you’ll be advised when the next free appointment is and how long you’ll have to wait.

    Do you offer home visits?

    Yes, by special arrangement. Please speak to our reception staff.

    Can I choose a male or female doctor?

    Yes, we have both male and female GPs available so if you have a preference please let us know and we’ll do our best to book you an appointment with the doctor of your choice.

    Will you send me an appointment reminder?

    Yes we do send reminders for GP appointments.

    We also aim to send you notification (via post or email or phone call) if you require any recall or follow-up appointment (for example, with blood works or pap smears).

    How do I cancel my appointment?

    If you’re unable to make your appointment or would like to reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible 02 9233 3399.

    Is there a cancellation fee?

    Yes. Cancelling your appointment within 12 hours of the actual booking will attract a full appointment fee (unless we’re able to fill the slot with another patient). We’ll send you an invoice for the missed appointment fee.

    What should I do if I’m running late?

    If you arrive late we cannot always guarantee we’ll be able to see you (as you’ll delay other patients). If we can’t see you, we’ll either offer a later appointment or advise you to rebook 02 9233 3399.

    Do you run any special promotions?

    Yes, we run seasonal allied and cosmetic health promotions offering services at reduced rates. Speak to our reception team for more details.

    Is your practice child-friendly?

    Absolutely; not only are our doctors friendly and approachable but also we work hard to make our environment warm and enjoyable for children, with books and toys available in reception.

    Do you accept rebates from private health funds?

    Yes. We use HICAPS automated claiming system, so that you can claim your rebate on the spot from most health funds. However, occasionally you may be asked to submit your health fund claim online, by mail or in person. Fees.
    Please note:

    • We do not take responsibility for your health fund rebates and any issues must be taken up directly with your health fund.
    • Private health funds do not generally cover GP visits. They may cover allied health visits but this depends on the fund and your cover.

    How secure is my medical record?

    Your medical record is treated as a confidential document. It’s the policy of this practice to maintain the security of personal health information at all times and to ensure your information is only available to authorised members of staff.

    What contact details do you need from me?

    Every time you visit we’ll ask if your contact information is up to date (along with your Medicare details). This ensures our records are accurate and we can contact you if there are any problems with your appointment.
