Medicare may cover up to 20 individual psychological consultations each year. This allows you access to certain psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers who are covered by Medicare.

Your medical professional will first refer you for up to six sessions at a time. They can suggest further sessions if needed. 

Medicare can only cover a portion of the cost because healthcare providers determine their own rates. When you schedule an appointment, enquire about the cost and the benefits you’ll receive from Medicare .

You won’t have to pay anything if they bulk bill. If you have private health insurance, you might be eligible for a financial reimbursement. It is best to confirm with your insurance company.
